Indian food and grocery delivery platform Zomato said on Thursday it will rename the company to "Eternal" and unveiled a new logo, a move that comes more than two years after it began using the new name internally.

Deepinder Goyal, CEO, Zomato has made this announcement on his official social media handle on X by posting the formal announcement letter.

The Zomato app and brand name will remain unchanged. Blinkit grew materially larger than Zomato’s food delivery business in the past year. A number of analysts estimate that Blinkit will grow to account for as much as 70% of the group’s value in the coming year.

In a move that has surprised many, the online food delivery platform, Zomato, has decided to change the name of its parent company ‘Zomato Limited’ to ‘Eternal Limited.’ In a letter to shareholders, Zomato boss Deepinder Goyal said that the company's board has approved the name change.

While the parent company will now be known as Eternal Ltd, the food delivery app will retain the familiar Zomato branding. However, the company’s corporate website will shift from zomato.com to eternal.com, and its stock ticker will change accordingly.

Zomato Ltd on Thursday announced that its board has apporved the change of name of the company to Eternal Ltd., marking a significant transformation in its corporate identity.

CEO Goyal in a letter to shareholders said that his team started referring to Zomato as 'Eternal' after acquiring it. "Zomato is an accidental company. It was born out of a simple desire to serve, and over time, it became a business. And the journey has been nothing short of extraordinary," excerpts from his letter read.
