BU took BC’s early roundhouse punch and leaned on goalie Mikhail Yegorov to stun the top-ranked Eagles, 4-1, in the Beanpot championship on Monday.

Cole Hutson was one of four Boston University goal scorers, netting the game winner in the second period of the Terriers' 4-1 victory over rival and top-ranked Boston College in the final of the annual Beanpot college hockey tournament Monday night at TD Garden in Boston.

BC scored first, but BU seized control in the second period and never looked back against its Commonwealth Avenue rival.

The No. 1 Boston College Eagles (21-4-1, 13-3-1 HE) men’s hockey team is looking for its 21st Beanpot title as it takes on the No. 9 Boston University Terriers (15-10-1, 10-6-1 HE) in the championship game on Monday night at TD Garden in Boston.

A couple of premier college hockey programs face off on Monday, Feb. 10 when the No. 1 Boston College Eagles take on the No. 9 Boston University Terriers in the Beanpot Championship at TD Garden in Boston.

Coming out of the weekend, BC was first in the Hockey East standings and BU third. That puts the rivals on a collision course for another clash in next month’s tournament final.

The Terriers advanced to the championship game for the 57th time when they took down the Harvard Crimson 7-1 in the semifinals. Boston University is 31-25 in Beanpot finals. This will be the 23rd time the two rivals have met in the Beanpot Final. BU is 12-10 in championship games against the team from Chestnut Hill.

BC and BU will mark the first time the two schools have faced off in the championship game of the men’s Beanpot title since 2016.
