South Alabama vs Georgia State preview, prediction, and betting lines. Both teams have been interesting, but neither one has won a Sun Belt game.

Both South Alabama and Georgia State need to win out to become bowl-eligible, which means the loser of Thursday night’s game is guaranteed a losing record and no postseason berth. The Jaguars enter the game having lost six straight, while the Panthers have lost four in a row.

Kentrel Bullock rushed for 113 yards, including a go-ahead touchdown with 1:49 remaining, and Tirrell Johnson made a game-sealing interception in the closing seconds to give South Alabama a 38-31 victory over Georgia State.

Vanderbilt moved up 7 spots to No. 10 in the AP poll, the Commodores’ highest ranking since 1947. Vanderbilt downed LSU 31-24 to earn just the fifth top-10 ranking in program history. The others were in 1937 (once), 1941 (once) and 1947 (twice).

After Thursday, either South Alabama or Georgia State will be playing out the string this season. The Jaguars and Panthers are both 1-6 overall, 0-3 in the Sun Belt Conference heading into their Thursday night game at Center Parc Stadium in Atlanta.
