Fire crews continued establishing containment lines around the Airport fire, achieving 31% containment of the blaze by Monday afternoon, Sept. 16, authorities said. The size of the fire has remained around 23,500 blackened acres since authorities said forward progress was stopped Friday evening, Sept. 13, at which point containment was at 9%.

Firefighters are making progress battling the massive Airport Fire today in Orange and Riverside counties, where 23,519 acres have been charred with containment now at 19%.

The fire burning in the Cleveland National Forest in Orange and Riverside Counties has scorched more than 23,500 acres.
