Aimee Betro covered her face in a niqab as she climbed out of a car in 2019 and tried to shoot a man at point-blank range, prosecutors said.

An American woman who was hired by her British lover as a would-be assassin, but then botched the attack and spent five years on the run, has been found guilty of conspiracy to murder.

Aimee Betro, 45, was found to have flown from the US to murder Sikander Ali at point-blank range outside his home in Birmingham in September 2019. But the gun jammed, allowing Mr Ali to flee.
