Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Maryland man who was mistakenly deported to El Salvador and then returned to the United States, was in court on Friday where he pleaded not guilty to human smuggling charges.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, whose mistaken deportation has become a flashpoint in President Donald Trump's immigration crackdown, pleaded innocent Friday to human smuggling charges in a federal court in Tennessee.

Abrego Garcia was charged with working with at least five co-conspirators as part of a smuggling ring to bring immigrants to the United States illegally.
