It has a DRO, taper attachment and is very accurate and repeatable. I am beginning to find out for myself exactly what you mean about being told my lathe is "Chinese junk".

None of those pot metal parts are available new, and they are rather breakable in some cases. Pricing depends on location. That's an Alaska type price, although might be about 20% low for Alaska.

Deep groove radial ball bearings can probably be used with some success, as shown with Taig lathes and mills for instance.
